The result is a drag that delivers smooth and consistent performance in the new Rocket. The Rocket is upgraded in Gen4 to a brass gear and Abu's newĭrag: Rated at 18lbs of max drag pressure, Abu Garcia outfits the Revo4 Rocket with the same drag stack found in the model SX and above - their Power Stack Carbon Matrix Drag system consisting of two keyed carbon drag washers and one metal washer. Granted, I didn't have any difficulties fighting fish, but did occasionally feel it was more difficult than usual retrieving moving baits like a vibrating jig through the water. While the new Rocket is perfectly suitable for most applications, it does lack a bit of torque when there's something hard pulling at the other end of the line. This new brass gear delivers smooth performance that should hold up over extended use.īut even with that large handle and oversized brass gear, the law of diminishing returns seems to finally hit at 10.1:1. The Gen 3 Rocket had an aluminum gear that after 3 years of use, finally began to feel a little rough. It's a very comfortable handle design giving you good leverage against the oversized brass gear. The Revo4 Rocket comes with a nice, 90mm carbon fiber swept handle finished with bearing supported, contoured, EVA foam knobs. This is usually accomplished by installing an array of magnets within the non handle sideplate that can be moved towards or away from the reel's spool via a dial. Depending on the implementation, magnets offer you consistent braking force throughout your cast. For the majority of its tests, I was fishing it spooled with some 14lb Sunline Sniper BMS Fluorocarbon and mounted on Edge Rod's original Black Widow 705-1.įlip this lever in back to open the non-handle sideplate andĬasting: Why did I feel it unfortunate that the Revo4 Rocket comes with the same braking system as the previous generation? Abu Garcia's Infini braking system is a hybrid giving you both magnetic and centrifugal braking. I'm a little late with this review only because I've been enjoying my time with this reel too much. Spooled with some Sunline Sniper BMS for our tests Unfortunately, the Revo4 Rocket comes with the same Infini (magnetic + centrifugal) braking system as the previous generation and now offered in the SX lineup. The one upgrade I was hoping for the most was the incorporation of the manufacturer's IVCB-6L braking system in the Rocket. The Rocket is essentially a Revo with a souped up It was essentially an STX with a souped up transmission, so when I first laid my greedy little enthusiast paws on the new Rocket, I was excited, expecting it to have the same upgrades as the Revo4 STX. At the time, it was the very first low profile baitcasting reel to crest eight point whatever, and featured a 9.0:1 retrieve ratio. The Revo Rocket made its debut during the Gen 3 iteration of Abu Garcia's Revo Suite. Introducing the 10.1:1 retrieve ratio Abu Garcia Revo4 Rocket I bring this up here to simply point out the Revo4 Rocket is a very familiar shape and profile. It's quite obvious and if you didn't know that before, you do now. Those familiar with Abu Garcia's line of Revo, low profile baitcasting reels know the manufacturer essentially uses the same frame and sideplate design throughout the lineup and simply swaps components (most notably the braking system and drag stack) to achieve different levels of performance at different price points to define the suite. They largely manufacture aircraft engines, missile defense systems, satellites, and drones. RTX Corporation (NYSE: RTX ) is a U.S.-based multinational aerospace and defense company. General Dynamics should be kept on your radar if you’re looking for a premiere dividend growth stock to buy in 2023. They ended the quarter with a record backlog of $91.4 billion. In Q2 2023, General Dynamics revenue grew to $10.2 billion, up 10.5% YOY. However, their most recent quarter proved the company’s resilience despite supply chain headwinds. FCF and operating cash flow also grew in 2022, up 2.4% and 7.2%, respectively. Revenue for the FY 2022 was up a modest 2.4% to $39.40 billion. They also offer a wide range of defense-related IT services and security systems. The company manufactures Gulfstream business jets, Abram tanks, Stryker fighter jets, submarines, and light tactical vehicles. General Dynamics (NYSE: GD ) is an American aerospace and defense company and the 6th largest defense contractor in the world. However, operating cash flow fell to $2.9 billion. During the quarter, EPS was slightly up to $6.73. FCF was $2.5 billion, down from $2.7 billion in Q3 2022. Lockheed Martin saw modest topline growth in Q3 2023 of $16.9 billion. However, Q4 2023 might be the turning point for the company after reporting its Q3 2023 financial results. The stock is down roughly 7% YTD, as the defense industry has largely underperformed the broader market. Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT ) is making a comeback in 2023 as geopolitical tensions rise. I have heard people not loving this product as it disappears on them, but I personally do not experience any fading with this. It is affordable, there are a bunch of shades and it lasts a long time. If you are a beginner and/ or if you struggle making your cream blush look natural this is a great blush to try out. Where some cream blushes can be super intense and difficult to control, the ELF Putty Blush is one that is very easy. Should you buy the ELF Putty Blush in Tahiti? Using the warmth of your fingers is the best way I have found. When you first use it and also after leaving it for a while, a film forms over the top which you need to get through to get to the product so you can apply it. And I would certainly recommend it with this blush. My favorite way to apply a cream blush is using fingers. That way I can very easily control how mucy I apply and what the effect is like. You can see there isn’t that much payoff, but I prefer that with creams. Here you can see the before and after of the blush when it is applied. It actually is great if you tap it in with fingers and it lasts well throughout the day on my dry skin. Yes, it is sheer, but that means you never look like a clown. What I love about this is how easy it is to apply and the effect it gives. It sheers out beautifully but I also feel I need to use quite a bit of product to get this to show up. The shade Tahiti therefore is far less intimidating than you might think. So it is tru that this has a buildable pigmentation. In the pan, this product looks a lot more intense then when you apply it. What does this blush look like in a swatch? The product should give a natural glow for a fresh look that is perfect for everyday. This blush is described as a lightweight formula that goes from cream to powder while blending seamlessly with a buildable pigmentation. There are 7 cream shades and 6 luminous shades. There is the first cream blush and there is a luminous version on the market. The ELF putty blushes come in two formulas. That is a far cry from the €1 and €3 line brand I was first introduced to. Especially the products that create the buzz are all €10 and up. It really seems the brand isn’t only copying more high end products, but their price point has also gone up drastically. At €7 it isn’t as expensive as some of the other products the brand has released. Review: ELF Putty cream blush in Tahitiįirst of all, the ELF Putty cream blush is an affordable product. One of the products that really impressed me was the ELF Putty Blush. So I bought as many products as I could and tried them all out. They have become a bit easier to get a hold of though, which is why I figured I should try some more. My reason for wanting to try ELF again is because I have come to known the brand as a hit n miss brand. One such product was the Putty Blush in Tahiti. Yet the products that I didn’t hear many people talking about impressed me the most. Which is why in February I decided to a Full Face of ELF and I found that any of the hyped up products were not my favorite. If there is one affordable drugstore priced brand that is on everybody’s lips at the moment it’s ELF. And a trip from Harrisburg West to Reading would cost 10 for toll-by-plate. This unexpected friendship also had the effect of erasing Rivet's general distrust of robots. It was only after she viewed the memories of the little robot that she began to bond with him, developing a relationship almost similar to that of Ratchet and Clank. When she encountered a damaged Clank, she took him with her presumably out of sympathy although she found it hard to trust him completely despite Clank's sincerity. Since losing her arm, Rivet has held a grudge against robots, not so much that she hates them but enough to be suspicious of them, calling robots not her thing. Although she has never known her kind the Lombaxes, Rivet really wants to find them. She seems to quite appreciate the adulation that others give her every time she wins a victory, such as when she was so flattered by the Morks that she laughed a little before asserting that her was enough. Socially, she is a bit clumsy due to her solitary attitude and little seems jaded, skeptical and rather bitter. She also doesn't like it when someone tries to filter with her. She initially had a pessimistic and incredulous side, not really believing Clank with his explanations of other dimensions or that other Lombaxes could still exist. Overall, Rivet is a kind, teasing, laid-back, sometimes touchy, determined, sassy, adventure-loving, reckless, somewhat surly, confident and emotional person who cares deeply for her friends and would do anything to save them from harm. Surviving in such a dangerous galaxy made her understand that it is necessary to improvise very quickly when things go wrong. Throughout the game, the Lombax manages to break through the walls of loneliness to the point of accepting Kit as her partner. Although part of the Resistance, Rivet is very lonely and always prefers to act on her own without ever wanting a partner, at least until she meets Clank, Ratchet, and Kit. Rivet is a brave, warm-blooded young Lombax who primarily puts her life on the line to protect the downtrodden of Emperor Nefarious. Rivet: Specific goals are achievable goals. It's been my lifelong dream to operate a drill a hundred times bigger than me. Unlike the only other known female lombax, Angela Cross, she has a long bushy tail similar to a raccoon’s or a fox's and noticeably different from those of Ratchet and Alister Azimuth, who both have tails similar to a lion. She wears a pair of black goggles with blue lenses on her head, silver hoop earrings in each ear (two on the right and one on the left), a black and gray jumpsuit with a belt, an orange scarf, a black left glove with two orange stripes almost at the end, and black boots with an orange detail. The fur on her forehead resembles a tuft of hair. Rivet has white fur with pigeon blue stripes, thin dark eyebrows, a small light pink nose, and light blue eyes. Nefarious and save the multiverse from destruction. A member of the resistance working to stop the reign of the evil Emperor Nefarious and his Nefarious Empire for years, Rivet later teamed up with Ratchet and Clank to defeat both Emperor Nefarious and Dr. Nefarious causes the destruction of the Dimensionator. She is a female lombax from another dimension who teams up with Clank while he is separated from Ratchet when Dr. Rivet is the deuteragonist of the 2021 video game, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. ~ Rivet's backstory, recounting how she lost her right arm. I got away before it could finish the job. I thought I could run.I, uh.wasn't fast enough. I didn't note one of Nefarious's Warbots was nearby. It happened during a mission.I'd found a secret entrance into the Emperor's Tower, so I tried to sneak in. I've fought a long time to win our galaxy back. Kit: You two seem to have a lot of history. Nefarious will be back in your own dimension in no time. Rivet: Right, Guess our adventure's coming to an end, Bolts. And, once we build the Dimensionator, he will help us find Dr. Rivet: Nothing! Just.thinking about building the Dimensionator and saving the universes.Ĭlank: Are you nervous about meeting Ratchet?Ĭlank: He is friendly. Improvisation is a skill you learn very fast. Here, we use the 1980 population distribution (total 4.4 billion) under the 1960–1990 mean climate (Fig. Our previous work 14 considered the 2015 population distribution under the 1960–1990 mean climate as a baseline (Extended Data Fig. Climate-related sources of harm not captured by the niche include sea-level rise 30, 31.įirst, we re-examined how relative population density varies with MAT. High temperatures have been linked to increased mortality 12, 13, decreased labour productivity 19, decreased cognitive performance 20, impaired learning 21, adverse pregnancy outcomes 22, decreased crop yield potential 9, increased conflict 23, 24, 25, hate speech 26, migration 27 and infectious disease spread 9, 28, 29. Exposure outside the niche could result in increased morbidity, mortality, adaptation in place or displacement (migration elsewhere). Here, we reassess the human climate niche, review its mechanistic basis, link it to temperature extremes, and calculate exposure outside the niche up to present and into the future under different demographic scenarios and levels of global warming. Mortality also increases at both high and low temperatures 10, 11, 12, consistent with the existence of a niche. The density of domesticated crops and livestock follow similar distributions 14, as does gross domestic product, which shares the same independently identified 14, 18 primary temperature peak (~13 ☌). Humans have adapted physiologically and culturally to a wide range of local climates, but despite this our niche 14 shows a primary peak of population density at a mean annual temperature (MAT) of ~13 ☌ and a secondary peak at ~27 ☌ (associated with monsoon climates principally in South Asia). The climate niche of species integrates multiple causal factors including combined 15 effects of physiology 16 and ecology 17. Here, we take a complementary, ecological approach, considering exposure to less favourable climate conditions, defined as deviations of human population density with respect to climate from the historically highly conserved distribution-the ‘human climate niche’ 14. From an equity standpoint, this is unethical 8-when life or health are at stake, all people should be considered equal, whether rich or poor, alive or yet to be born.Ī growing body of work considers how climate variability and climate change affect morbidity 9 or mortality 10, 11, 12, 13. But what is the human cost of climate change and who bears it? Existing estimates tend to be expressed in monetary terms 7, tend to recognize impacts on the rich more than those on the poor (because the rich have more money to lose) and tend to value those living now over those living in the future (because future damages are subject to economic discounting). Calls for climate justice highlight the vital need to address the social injustices driven by climate change 6. Even fully implementing all 2030 nationally determined contributions, long-term pledges and net zero targets, nearly 2 ☌ global warming is expected later this century 1, 2, 5. Similar content being viewed by othersĭespite increased pledges and targets to tackle climate change, current policies still leave the world on course for around 2.7 ☌ end-of-century global warming 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 above pre-industrial levels-far from the ambitious aim of the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5 ☌. These results highlight the need for more decisive policy action to limit the human costs and inequities of climate change. That person comes from a place where emissions today are around half of the global average. The lifetime emissions of ~3.5 global average citizens today (or ~1.2 average US citizens) expose one future person to unprecedented heat by end-of-century. Reducing global warming from 2.7 to 1.5 ☌ results in a ~5-fold decrease in the population exposed to unprecedented heat (mean annual temperature ≥29 ☌). By end-of-century (2080–2100), current policies leading to around 2.7 ☌ global warming could leave one-third (22–39%) of people outside the niche. We show that climate change has already put ~9% of people (>600 million) outside this niche. Here we express them in terms of numbers of people left outside the ‘human climate niche’-defined as the historically highly conserved distribution of relative human population density with respect to mean annual temperature. The costs of climate change are often estimated in monetary terms, but this raises ethical issues. Once on the trail, several dusty-but-easy switchbacks lead to the top. Follow Kaukama Road to the ninth light pole (no joke), and you can park along the curb. The trail entrance for Pu'u O Hulu is tucked within a neighborhood on the west side of Oahu. But it's worth it for the top-of-the-world views of Hanauma Bay and Hawaii Kai. There's no shade on this hike either, and even the most fit individuals work up a good sweat. We recommend that you arrive early (parking is free at the base of the summit), and pack ample water and sunscreen. The best time to climb here is before or after peak sun hours. The trail comprises 1,048 railroad ties that scale the side of a steep crater, where an additional 20-30 feet of pathway lead to the lookout points. One of the most grueling hikes on the island, Koko Head gives the StairMaster a run for its money. (Tip: Be sure your sunblock is labeled "reef safe." In spring 2018, Hawaii became the first state to pass a bill banning sunscreen that contains chemicals known to damage coral reef.) Koko Head Crater Beware: There's no shade along the trail, so make sure to pack sunscreen. At the top, you'll see the lighthouse and on a clear day neighboring islands will come into view. Just two miles roundtrip, this hike is a favorite among families with strollers or small children, as there's no need to worry about footing and there are plenty of places to stop and enjoy the ocean views. Makapu’u Lighthouse Trailĭon’t be fooled by the completely paved Makapu’u Lighthouse Trail-you'll work up a sweat on the incline. You can park at the base of the crater for $5 per car, or park outside the park and pay a $1-per-person entry fee to walk to the base (cash only). The final stretch-a metal staircase that winds through historic bunkers-opens to coastline views of Waikiki and the cerulean sea. On the ascent to the top, switchbacks afford panoramic views of the city and into the crater floor below. A fixture amid the Honolulu skyline, Diamond Head is an easy climb. |
